We are all devastated and heartbroken beyond words. Dan had been battling the effects of encephalitis for more than a year and it seems that this contributed to his death.
We have lost an incredible amazing, loving, witty and intelligent member of our family and the world has lost an extraordinary, dedicated, internationally renowned doctor who achieved so much in his short life.
The world will be a sadder place without him.
